Has anyone seen it? I just bought the DVD the other day and have been watching it - frankly, I just don't feel like it is measuring up to seasons 1 & 2. They're focusing on a lot of back story and not on the weird mix of crazy events that don't make sense slash pop culture references. I mean, it's still funny, mostly because I like the characters but I'm just not laughing out loud like I used to. I'm a little disappointed actually.

I think it's a general consensus. I wasn't too happy with the part of the season I saw. Too.... unfunny, I think. too self-referential in a bad way.

The Onion's AV Club ran an interview with Jackson Publick (one of the show's creators) a couple weeks ago where he said basically same thing you guys are. Too not-funny, too self-referential, too deep in the mythos. Season 4 should be back to the VB we all know and love.
