art for midterm (1)

16:39 by

So for those of you who don't know, I am taking some undergraduate art classes as Missouri State University this semester. Since I got a BA instead of a BFA (bachelor's of fine arts), I need more studio hours for most Graduate school requirements. Oh, I guess I should also bring up that I am trying to get into Graduate school for art. And that I moved to Springfield MO 3 months ago. And I have a job in the Biology department at MSU. And today we got a shipment of leeches in. They came in a bag like goldfish surrounded by biodegradable foam peanuts in a cardboard box. Seriously, this job is weird/awesome.

But back to the point - my art classes. Printmaking and sculpture.
Super awesome classes. I forgot how much I love learning and love learning art.
I took some pictures of the things I have been working on.

Here they are!

The first one is called "I thought it was a cat." There are 6 of them cause there were 6 stages to the metal plate that I worked on.

This second one is called "underwater medical extravaganza." I made the drawing from a picture of Beth wearing her science goggles and making a funny face. It was a lino cut.

This is a series of wooden swirls I made in sculpture. There were many complication in putting the piece together, but I like the way it turned out. I added height to the outside swirl of each of the 3 swirls and it took me most of this half of the semester to make it. It is meant to hang on the wall.

This is my skin and bones project. Gears, wire, and glue. Hot glue, tacky glue, elmers glue, super glue to hold the wires to the gears. I think they look like spiderwebs and christmas bobbles. A combination of my most and least favorite holidays. I made 6 of them in varying sizes.

And there we have it. Hooray for art!
