The Family

So, umm, guys. Beth and I are engaged.

We're pretty excited about it.

I think Beth tells the story better, but she doesn't have constant access to the interwebs, and she's been working twelve hour days recently (me too, strangely enough) so I thought I'd give you the skinny. I know pretty much everyone already knows the skinny, though. Especially since I have no idea who all has talked to her, but here are the details:

It was saturday. I knew my proposal couldn't top Bewley's so I figured I would go the opposite route. We headed up to Petit Jean, to hike around and so I could ask her the same questions I asked her when I first met her. It was hella muggy. I would post pictures, but umm, it was muggy and I was sweaty and the pictures kind of... support that claim. So, at lunch, I hiked up to the top of turtle rock, set out our picnic, and had her follow me. Then I proposed. We were so sweaty and hot that I couldn't really tell if Beth was crying. She was. She said yes, we opened the champagne, we ate the picnic, it started raining on us. We had lost the cork to the champagne when it went sailing out of the bottle and with no way to seal it we just dumped it out, threw all our stuff in my backpack and headed down before we got soaked with rain and slipped and fell to our deaths. So yeah. After that we met a 2005 graduate of Harding who was puking on the trail, so we got her to the truck, and to her car where she was taken to the hospital for heat exhaustion. Later we went out to sushi, after getting cleaned up.


That's the short end of it, if Beth has details to add, she might do so, but in general that's the way it went down. Maybe pics of the ring or something later?

The wedding will be early evening, Saturday December 20th. Austin is graduating that day - so if you want to show up to that, there shouldn't be too many conflicts. Also: you're invited.
