The Family

So, Zach's posting a lot of videos here. What are YOU doing?

1. write a book
2. be vocalist/programmer for interesting new band
3. teach graphic design at college/masters level
4. professionally sculpt things from trash / junk metal
5. review music / be a columnist for a big magazine/website

What are the things you would do if you could?

I really didn't mean it as a pity party, I was just thinking that I doubt I'll ever really write a book, because I also want to do everything else so badly. It had a negative glint, but it was an example, I guess, not an end in its self.

Please don't feel the need to dominate every creative sphere. You've already got graphic design all wrapped up, maybe leave one or two art forms for someone else?

It's ok zach, i've always wanted to be Karyn too. I have to say that i always thought i'd be more like Phoebe from friends... be a masseuse, yoga instructor, dance teacher, artist, be in cheesy musicals... turns out you can only have so many passions. Travel with only dollars and change in my pocket... i don't think i can ever be that irresponsible. I feel like i have to have some sort of structure and security. I wish i could be more irresponsible? haha... i'm tired. Also- i know i'll never be a lesbian... though i can dream.

no one is stopping you from writing a book.

wow, i'm having a really hard time thinking of things that i want to do that i honestly believe i'll never do. that's probably a good sign?

it just seems like all of this is in our hands. if you know you'll never write a book, zach, then that just means you don't want to write one.

i guess my list might go:
write an incredible thesis
get a phd
teach overseas
publish a poem
see the northern lights
keep a potted plant alive for at least 6 months

but i don't have any concrete reasons as to why i can't do any or all of those things. as corny as it sounds, the world is our playground. i mean, really--it is.

THIS IS MUCH EASIER NOW
but mine are all geeky

if i had a thousand lifetimes, i would study every single language i could until i was able to appreciate the untranslatable phrases. i would read the bible in hebrew and greek. i would try to master the short story form. i would become a literary critic. i would study art. i would study anthropology. i would be a baker. i would be a freelance journalist. i would be a stage actress. i would loaf like CRAZY and read as much as i could. i would spend a year in a monastery. i would be a student of everything.

also, i would find a giant canvas bag full of $100 bills.
